Cairn-ivores Cairn-ivores are corrupted earth elementals created originally by an evil wizard to act as guardians in his long destroyed tower complex. They were created by taking extremely immature Daolite elementals and infusing them with Essense of Vampire. The wizard created a stable viable crossbreed looking mostly like the original immature Daolite. The Traditional Cairn-ivores still have the dressed stone look of the original guardians that hid in the halls of the wizard, but they have also adapted to other 'hunting grounds'. The traditionals hide in amongst flooring pavers and cobbled streets, leaping out to attack passersby with their sharp claws and teeth. Common appearances are as dressed stone pavers, street cobbles, and simple rocks and pebbles. Their size is generally smaller than the usual Daolite, ranging from tiny cockroach sized pebbles, average 6" square pavers, to 'huge' ones at almost 1 meter/ yard square. They are attracted to, and favor, the taste of the iron in blood. They were created with distinctly humanoid tastes. Their name comes from the hunting style of the rock/pebble-form "Wild Cairn-ivores". These most often attack in a pack swarm. Those who succumb to their attack are buried, drained, and sometimes skeletonised by the swarm. The swarm attack results in a cairn-like pile of stones over the victim. In these days of grave-robbing adventurers it is effective to merely wait for yet another victim to present themselves.
